KD Max V10 45-Degree Cabinets

Modified on Thu, 17 Apr at 10:44 AM

This guide will show you how to create a 45-degree cabinet within KD Max V10.

Please Note: Creating a 45-degree cabinet is very ad hoc and tedious. These cabinets will not display correctly on plans if you require that.

Step 1.
Find a cabinet you'd like to create into a 45-degree, I'd suggest finding one similar to the one below.

Place the cabinet down, open up Product List again and find the same cabinet but with the opposite door opening.
Bring them as close to each other as possible on the angle you'd like them on.

Click on the open all doors option.

Click on Delete Panel, then left click on all internal shelves, the side panels that will not be needed as the 45-degree cabinet will connect, top rails and bottom panels of the cabinet.

Everything highlighted in green below will need to be deleted.

Then right click on the cabinet and change size until the back of the cabinet meets in the middle of wall like below

Once aligned, create a shelf panel and select the left and right panels on the cabinet

Select one by one, the left side, right side and back panel.
Then set the thickness on the panel and set the distance to the bottom as 0.
This will make the shelf panel the bottom panel.

Then do the exact same thing but instead of selecting distance from the bottom, select distance from the top to create a top panel.

If you need to create internal shelves on this cabinet, follow the same process as above but instead of distance to bottom/top as 0.
Set the distance as 1/2 of the cabinet height, minus the top and bottom panel thickness.

Next, you'll need to edit the door widths.

Do that by right clicking one side of the cabinet and selecting Property.
Then in the top left of KD Max, select the edit door option.

Then ensure that you're editing the dimension of the door from where the hinge points would be so opposite of the handle.
Edit the L > Base: 4th Edge, change this dimension until the door side lines up where you need it.

Do the same for the other door now

Edited door sizes below.

Once you're happy with the cabinet you've created. Add it as a product so you can use it again

Please Note: Adding this cabinet as a product will make the cabinet UNABLE to be edited if re used.
To change cabinet dimensions, you'll need to repeat this whole process.

Shift and click on every piece of the cabinet until it's entirely highlighted in green.

During the product add in stage, you can change the name and model number to whatever you'd like.

Once added the cabinet will now be in your Material Library under the Others tab then in the User Library section.

Please Note: As this cabinet has been created and is not a standardized cabinet, it will not show up correctly or neatly on the 2D aerial viewer or in plans on the BtoCAD program.
As KD Max is primarily a designing program and not an engineering program, these cabinets have issues with those things.
